Inclusive by design

Looking into your loan options shouldn’t be blocked by a barrier of any kind, digital ones included. We want every visitor, whatever their disability, assistive technology or browsing setup, to be able to use Debt Clearing Hub with full confidence.

The standards we follow

Debt Clearing Hub works toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The guidelines rest on four principles:

Perceivable

Information is presented so every visitor can take it in, through text alternatives, captions where needed, and enough color contrast.

Operable

Every control and every path through the site works with a keyboard, voice or another input device.

Understandable

Text and interface behavior stay clear, consistent and predictable.

Robust

Content stays compatible with a wide range of current and future assistive technologies.

We review the site against these standards whenever it changes, and we keep working on anything that falls short.

Accessibility features on our platform

We have built in a number of features to support different needs and preferences:

Semantic structureA proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions and meaningful link text throughout
Keyboard navigationThe whole site works without a mouse, with clearly visible focus indicators
Text alternativesDescriptive alt text on informational images, for screen reader users
Color contrastText and interface elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios
Scalable textText can be enlarged up to 200% without losing content or function
Skip linksA skip link lets keyboard users jump past repeated navigation

Animations also respect the reduced-motion setting on your device.

Known limitations and ongoing work

We aim for WCAG 2.1 AA across the whole site, but some areas may not fully conform yet. Here is what we are keeping a close eye on:

  • The loan-matching form is a third-party component from our form provider, so some of its accessibility is outside our direct control
  • Lender websites and tools that you are introduced to belong to those lenders, and this statement does not cover them
  • New pages and features are checked as they are added, and anything that falls short goes onto our list of fixes

Help us find what we’ve missed. If you run into a barrier that isn’t listed here, please tell us, and it goes straight onto our list of improvements.

Compatible assistive technologies

Debt Clearing Hub is designed to work with the following:

  • Screen readersNVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS) and TalkBack (Android)

  • Voice controlDragon NaturallySpeaking and Apple Voice Control
  • Zoom and reflowBrowser zoom up to 400% with reflow enabled, on mobile and desktop
